Summer Nights

It was a wonderful, cloudless evening in Biloxi, so we decided to hit up the beach to watch the sunset and let McKaila roam the water. We really love going to the beach and being able to let McKaila run around, but having a newborn has kind of stopped us from spending more time at the beach. Now that McKenna is becoming more aware of her surroundings and is up for longer periods of time, I think we will start heading out to the beach a lot more. We may have to wait to hit up the beach during the day until it starts to cool down a bit, it is just way to hot to be spending the days at the beach at this point.

We have taken McKenna to the beach, but the last time she slept through it all, so with this trip to the beach I was excited to see how she would react to the sand and water. McKenna was in love with it all. She had so much fun stomping her feet in the sand and water. I think we're going to have a couple beach girls on our hands.

I really thought McKenna was going to freak out about the water, but she loved it

Friends Forever

I know I say this in about every post lately, but I just can't believe how happy these two little girls have made me. I just love the way McKenna's face lights up when she sees her big sister and I absolutely love that McKaila will sing for minutes on end just to make her little sister stop crying and put a smile on her face. I cross my fingers in hoping that the love that they have for each other grows and stays this way when they're older.

Everyone loves a Dutch girl
McKaila was excited about our craft project. We melted plastic beads to make sun catchers

McKaila loves getting in and playing with McKenna

Quality Time

As a family, we really haven't been doing a whole lot, other than spending time together at home. Most weekends are spent going here and there, getting groceries, diapers, and other random stuff. But, the last couple weekends have been spent mostly at home. It was nice to be able to just relax and enjoy some time with just the 4 of us. Playing on the floor, taking walks at night and just spending time laughing together.
Courtney was really happy he got to experience a first with McKenna on Saturday. She was giggling for the first time with her daddy. He was overjoyed for sure.

McKaila said she wanted to hold her sister, but in the end she wasn't happy about it, but McKenna sure was happy to be by her big sister

McKenna is so happy when she can see the world around her, so Courtney sat her in her walker. She can't touch the ground so Courtney put a pillow at her feet, but she was so content. She had her hands on the steering wheel and kept reaching for everything else.

Life in Biloxi

Courtney is busy working and about to graduated is 2nd class and I'm busy at home taking care of the girls. Some days are better then others and I think that goes for the both of us. We are also preparing for the hurricanes. It's always hurricane talk on the news. If they see something in the waters, we know about it. Thankfully, the storms that they have said are going to move in our direction, changed direction or there just wasn't much of a storm any more. We did have a lot of rain this past weekend and should be seeing more in the next couple days. There was a lot of flooding in the area, but we didn't see any of it in our neighborhood.

Rain just above 3 inches in about 2 hours time

For me, there are days that McKaila is in her terrible 2's mode and doesn't want to listen and spends some time in time out, then there are days where she'll just want to run up to you and tell you that she loves us so much and tell us we are her best friends. McKaila is testing both of us in every possible way right now, that's for sure. But wow, McKaila is growing up so fast. It's crazy how many words come out of her mouth on a daily basis. We went on a walk last night and the whole time, McKaila talked and talked. She takes after her daddy with that one.

McKenna is doing great. She is one happy baby and can't believe that she's almost 4 months old already. Time needs to slow down for sure. She has been rolling over despite the fact that she's not a big fan of tummy time. We are so thankful that McKenna is a great sleeper like her big sister. She's sleeping through the night and always wakes up with a smile on her face. She doesn't always want to be put down for naps. She mostly likes napping in her swing, but she prefers to nap in our arms.

The days are very warm here, to the point you don't even want to step out the front door if you don't have to. Mostly, we try to get outside after dinner when it's starts getting a little cooler. We sit in the front yard and watch McKaila run around or we take a walk around the neighborhood. Even with the heat and humidity we are so happy to call this place home.

Planes

Saturday, Courtney and McKaila attended a free early preview of Planes on base.

I was excited for McKaila because we thought this was the perfect time and perfect movie for her to experience it in an actual movie theatre. Even though I was excited for her, it also brought tears to my eyes. Not only is our little girl growing up, but this was McKaila's first, first without me being there. It was pretty hard for me to watch Courtney and McKaila drive off, but it had to happen sooner or later. Even though i was sad, Courtney was happy to experience a first with her because he doesn't get the chance to be home for much of them.

Courtney said she did a pretty good job, but only sat still for maybe a half hour. There were a lot of kids there, so I'm sure that was a big distraction for her. All in all, I think McKaila had a great time because she kept talking about all the airplanes.

Had to have popcorn, of coarse

Snuggle Bug

I absolutely love that McKenna is a little snuggler. Not only does she love to be all wrapped up in her blankets when she's sleeping, but when she's awake, she has to have a blanket to hold onto. She loves to have the softness of them on her face at all times, I guess. So, we always have to have her Taggies blanket or her pink puppy on hand.
I think we are going to have a little girl who always has to have that special something with her.

Happy 3 months McKenna Grace
