Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween From The Polnicky Family

The morning started off with opening presents from Grandma and Papa Kuipers and from Great Grandma Holtgeerts. McKaila was eager to open presents, so as soon as she was done with her breakfast, she runs up to me asking to open the presents. It's going to interesting once Christmas arrives if she's this excited to open presents for Halloween.

These girls are so happy in the mornings, they don't get that from their mommy, she needs her coffee first

McKenna wanted so badly to open her own presents. She actually did manage to get a few pieces torn on her own

All their presents. These girls are so spoiled by their Grandparents and Great Grandma and they love it!! Much thank you to Grandma and Papa and Great Grandma Holtgeerts

Trick or Treating Time

We had such a great time on Halloween night. Courtney's co-worker, Kory and his family, came over with pizza and we got all our kids ready together to go trick or treating. We also had our neighbors, Jordan and Brittney along with their 2 week old son, Jacob come over and we all helped out with handing out candy to all the kids.

Our little Koala bear. This was also McKenna's first Halloween

Once we got outside to start handing out candy and have the kids go house to house to get candy, McKaila decided she wanted to stay and hand out candy herself. So, there she was, standing right next to the bowl of candy, handing all the kids a piece of candy. It was so cute. She really didn't understand the concept of trick or treating because with each kid she would say trick or treat to them. It was cute either way. We did have to help her out with the handling of candy though. Trick or Treating here is like nothing I have ever seen. At one point we had a line of kids down our drive way waiting for candy. It was crazy. It was a good steady pace of kids for a good hour and a half or so. After about an hour, McKaila decided she finally wanted to get some candy of her own, so Courtney took her out to go door to door and get some candy. This was the first time she actually went out trick or treating, so she had a blast.

Pumpkin Carving

A few weeks ago we went out and bought our pumpkins to carve. For the time being, they have been sitting on our front porch, just waiting to be carved. We decided to wait until it was closer to Halloween to carve the pumpkins because we didn't want them to rot or anything.

So, Monday night after dinner, we got the pumpkin carving underway
Courtney started off with McKaila's pumpkin. Once he got the top cut, he tried getting McKaila to stick her hand in the pumpkin to take out all the guts.
McKaila wasn't too thrilled about putting her hand in the pumpkin, but Courtney put her arm in there anyways. She thought it was funny at first, then...
She felt the guts of the pumpkin. I love this face though
After a little bit, she didn't mind getting a little dirty, but she rather pick out all the seeds, then dig in the pumpkin
Pumpkin is all cleaned out, time to start the carving
McKaila picking out all the seeds so we cook them up and eat them, YUMMY

The final products

McKaila wanted her pumpkin carved like Doc McStuffins
Mommy's pumpkin
Courtney never got around to carve his pumpkin because it took a while to carve McKaila's pumpkin. We also didn't carve McKenna a pumpkin because she's too little to even know what's going on, but we did get her a little pumpkin of coarse. We needed a family of 4 pumpkins to sit on the front porch.

McKaila's Birthday Party

This past Saturday, we celebrated McKaila's birthday with a birthday party, a Princess Sofia birthday. We gave the option to McKaila to pick out what birthday theme she wanted since this was really the first time she understood what was going on, so I pulled up all the birthday themes up on the iPad and she choose Sofia the First without hesitation.

She was so excited for her birthday party. It literally was all she could talk about for about 2 weeks leading up to the party. It was so cute, but after a while, I really had hoped that she started to understand the concept of time. But, I couldn't help but smile when all she wanted to do was go open presents and play with her friends. You can't get mad at that.

It's time to leave for the party

We had the birthday party at Keesler AFB Marina. They have pavilions there to rent out and there is also a big play ground for the kids to go play on. Downside is trying to get all the kids to stop playing to open presents and to eat cake, but everyone had lots of fun.

McKaila went straight to the park and didn't even want to help decorate for her own party

 McKenna wanted some too
McKaila looks like such a big girl in this picture, makes me kind of sad

The party was a hit and every one seemed to have a good time. McKaila sure did and almost fell asleep on our 5 minute drive home from the party, which she never does. But as soon as we were home, she wanted to rip open all the boxes to get to her toys.

Thank you to all who were able to come out and enjoy McKaila's special day with us!
