Fredrick Meijer Garden

One thing I always wanted to do while living in Michigan was to go to Fredrick Meijer Garden to see the butterflies. I have always heard wonderful stories about people seeing the butterflies, so when we started planning our trip to Michigan, I had in my head that going to Fredrick Meijer Garden would be a great thing to do for McKenna's birthday. As I have said in previous birthday posts, Courtney and I had decided early on that we wouldn't do presents for our girls on their birthdays, we wanted to bring them somewhere and where ever we went, we would buy them a book. That is our birthday present from us to our girls.

We were lucky enough to get to Michigan when we did, because it was the second to last day to see the butterflies. So, our first full day in Holland, we were off to Grand Rapids to eat lunch and go see the butterflies.

Both girls were super excited about seeing the butterflies, but once we were in with the butterflies, McKaila wasn't too fond of them. McKenna didn't mind at all, she was fascinated with all the butterflies flying in front of her face. We spent a good amount of time with the butterflies and McKaila warmed up to them and even started pointing out all the different butterflies.

After seeing the butterflies, we headed outside to check things out. Luckily, it was a beautiful day and we could enjoy the outdoors for a while, that is before it started down pouring. We got to be outside for a good 45 minutes before the rain came, so it was nice to get some energy out before then.

It was a very fun trip, not only for us adults, but the kids too!! It was a great start to our 2 week vacation in Michigan!

Four Legged Kids

I don't very often post pictures of our animals. Roxy gets in a lot of pictures because she either photo bombs them or she's always by the girls when I have the camera out, so she makes the pictures. McKaila and McKenna love the puppies and kitties. When we get home from an outing out, when we get home the pups go right to the girls rather then Courtney and I. Even in the mornings, when the girls come down the stairs Roxy and Simon get excited and run right up to them. I love the love that they have for each other.

So I decided to make this post about our four legged kids. These four have been with us from the beginning. Courtney had Simon and Roxy when Courtney and I met. So, we were an instant family of 4, but of coarse I had to add my little bit into it, so that's when we got Sadie. Sadie was a barn cat, and still has that little friskiness in her, but she's a very lovable cat. When it came to getting Meeko, we weren't really looking into getting another cat, but while at PetSmart, Meeko made us fall in love with him.

Even though these four get on my last nerves sometimes, I couldn't imagine life without these four. So, here are some photos of our kids and some of McKenna too because she is just too darn cute. (McKaila was napping when the photos were taken)

When you're teething EVERYTHING goes in your mouth, okay mom?

Happy Easter

Happy Easter from the Polnicky Family

As a family, we haven't really been big into doing the egg hunts and doing the Easter baskets, we are like that for most holidays. Maybe next year, when the girls are a little older and can understand it a little more, we will start doing it, but right now, we just want to make holidays of any sort, more of spending time with our family.

It was a gorgeous day out, so we spent most of our day outside. Courtney washed the van in preparation for our travels to Michigan, while I watched the girls splash around in the pool. McKaila has always loved the water, especially our pools in the backyard and the sprinkler. This was McKenna's first time going in the pool. She loves her baths every morning, so I figured she would love sitting in the pool in the front yard. I was right. She splashed and splashed and had a huge smile on her face the whole time.

On thing I did request that we do, was head out for some ice cream. It was a perfect day for ice cream so when McKenna woke up from her nap, we got in the car and headed to Sonic for some ice cream. It hit the spot for all 4 of us, that's for sure!!

It was a perfect day spent with our family and hope it was the same for you as well!

Walking and Teething

And just like that, we have another walker roaming the house. McKenna was taking a few steps in between Courtney and I, but last week, the 7th of April, McKenna took off and hasn't looked back. And every day she gets better and better. She still will count on something to help her stand up, but little by little she's learning to stand from a sitting position.

I can't believe that our little McKenna is walking, practically running. But I am loving the smiles on her face while she's walking around the house. The look on her face is priceless and you can tell she is just so proud of herself for learning to walk. But what McKenna is really enjoying is being able to follow around her big sister McKaila a lot more.

Now that McKenna is walking, I feel like our girls have connected on a whole other level. Our girls have always been inseparable, but now, it's like watch out. They are going to be trouble together. Not bad trouble, I just feel like they are always going to be side by side, doing what they want. All and all, I love it and I'm so incredibly happy that they love each other has much as they do.

Along, with walking, we have been dealing with a teething baby. I don't ever remember McKaila being all that bad with teething, but with McKenna it's a whole other story. She's had 3 bottom teeth for a while now, which coming in didn't seem to bad, but these top ones are hurting her badly. She's got 3 popping through at the same time, and she's having a difficult time with it. I feel so horrible for her and wish I could take that pain away from her. As you would guess, due to the teething, McKenna puts everything in her mouth. Today, we decided to put some teethers in the freezer and she fell in love with them. We had kind of forgotten about them because McKaila never liked them, she just wanted her Sophie Giraffe, so I'm happy we can finally put some to use now with McKenna.

Allergies

Once again, the girls have both come down with runny noses. That means for me, as a stay at home mom, my days seem longer then ever. McKaila, who will blow her nose on her own normally, seems to have forgotten how to do it or doesn't want to do it when she's sick. So, every so often we hear, "I need to blow my nose." And with McKenna, she doesn't want us wiping her nose at all, she fight us, but in the end we still get it done. The crazy thing is though, is when we have to use the suction on her to try and remove the snot from her nose, she will just sit there and let it be done.

I feel so bad for our babies when they don't feel good. McKenna attaches to mommy more then ever, which is really hard for me during the day because I can't do anything without having her attached to me. McKaila is good at just taking her iPad and cuddling with her buddy and blanket, but she isn't to happy when she sees McKenna getting all the sickness attention sometimes.

So, today Courtney took McKaila to the doctors to get her checked out. Courtney gets allergies really bad, so he always says that he thinks that she has them. Finally today, we got some answers about it. And she does in fact have allergies. We didn't bring in McKenna, but Courtney asked about her also, and she could possibly have allergies too. So, they both got some medicine and hopefully with that, they will both start to feel better.

Spring Time

We are currently loving the warm weather here in Biloxi, but I know before long, we will be wishing that it was cooler again due to the humidity. For now, we will take full advantage of the warm weather and the non rainy days and enjoy the outdoors.

The girls and I have spent a lot of time in the yard playing and going out to the play ground. We have also taken some walks as a family, which we hope to do more of before the heat takes over and we won't want to take a step outside of the air condition house.

Here's to a warm Spring, where we can play outside and have the windows open in the house (by now, last year, we had the air condition on in the house non stop)

11 Months Old

I can't believe that in one short month, our little baby girl, McKenna Grace is going to be 1 year old. It's already making me get tears in my eyes thinking about it.

McKenna no longer is eating any baby food. She hasn't done this in months really. She much rather feed herself and eat what we are all eating. She loves noodles, tortillas, puffs, munchies and pretty much anything that we put in front of her. She currently weened herself off of formula, so it's onto whole milk for her. She won't drink her milk cold, so we warm it for her, but so far so good with the whole milk. She seems to really enjoy it, especially a lot more then her formula. And I will be honest, it's great not having to make bottles every night or have formula to bring with us when we go out.

We love you McKenna Grace
