Hiking Adventures

When you know it's going to be a beautiful day after it's been cold and snowy, what do you do? You go exploring!
Especially since we are in a new place, we love to just drive around and find new adventures.

Since it was going to be so nice and we had been stuck in the house, we decided that we wanted to do a little bit of hiking. So we drove to Colorado (we are about 10 miles from the state line) to go to the Devil's Backbone to do some hiking.

Prior to going hiking, we stopped at Sheels, our new favorite store to shop at to buy the kids their own Yeti cups. Being here and the high altitude, we are dealing with some dehydration issues, especially with McKaila. So, the kids got to pick out the cups they wanted to help them drink more water and they each wanted cups like mommy and daddy.

After some shopping at Sheels and some pizza eating at Pizza Ranch, we drove to the Devil's Backbone. We had drove through the area one other time and did get out of the car in an attempt to do some walking, but it was so cold, that we didn't get too far. But, that time we did get to see some elk roaming around. And unfortunately, this time we didn't see any, but we did get to witness some beautiful views.

The girls wanted to go a little higher up the mountain and Logan was tired, so Courtney took the girls up the mountain some more, while I walked back with Logan. The girls really enjoyed it and thought it was so cool that they were able to climb up to the top.

Hopefully next time, Logan and I can climb up more of the mountain because it sure looked beautiful from the pictures.

The kids did a really great job with the hike. It was pretty rocky at times, but they did awesome!

It was a pretty awesome day and I am looking forward to more days like that, where we can get out of the house and hike up some mountains. And I am sure, in the spring/summer we will be spending most of our weekends doing just that!

Pitch Perfect 3

We had a very full last couple days of moving into our new house, that I needed a break. Which also meant, a perfect time to get out of the house for a day date with the girls to finally go see Pitch Perfect 3.

We didn't get to see the movie at the time we wanted to, but it did work in our favor. We got to go enjoy some ice cream before heading into the movie and sharing a big tub of popcorn.

It sure felt great to get my mind off of all the boxes in the house and focus completely on the girls. The 3 of us enjoyed it very much and hope to do it again really soon!

McKaila's First Day at Freedom Elementary

It's the day that McKaila has been waiting for since we arrived here in Cheyenne, her first day of school!

The night before her first day, Courtney asked her how she was feeling about her first day of school and she replied with, "I'm excited, but scared."

McKaila's first day went off without a hitch. She went into her class and was her normal shy self, but according to her teacher, she had a really awesome day and was an all around perfect student!

As for McKenna. It's been a struggle to find a good pre-k system around here. So, I am going to do my best and work hard with her on her letters and numbers to get her ready for kindergarten next school year.

Happy 2018!

It's still crazy to think of all the things that happened in our family in 2017. We had some ups and downs, but we did it all together as a family. We even traveled a total of 5 long days in the car to get to our new home.
We made some great memories in 2017 and am looking forward to all the memories we will make together in 2018!

The kids have really enjoyed making pizza with daddy, so I think that will become a New Years Eve tradition for us. We ate pizza and shortly after the kids said they were tired, so even after telling them they could stay up a little later they decided to go to sleep and so then, that left Courtney and I. Well... we didn't make it to midnight either.

We spent our new years day relaxing in our pjs, playing some skip-bo and eating some cocktail shrimp, plus many other snacks.
We have a new skip-bo player in the Polnicky family! McKaila was so excited to play with Mommy and Daddy and she caught on to the game, very quickly.
