Septemember 11, 2012

It's now been 11 years, since the tragic attack on our nation. Like most of you, the moments that the planes hit the World Trade Center, The Pentagon, along with the grounds of Pennsylvania, are going to be etched in our minds for the rest of our lives. It's hard to forget something like that.

So, just like last year we headed to The Pentagon to show our respects to those lost there on that tragic day.  But before heading to The Pentagon, we heading to Arlington Cemetery. Courtney just found out that he has relatives that are buried there, so since we couldn't get into The Pentagon Memorial until after noon, we thought we would go to the cemetery first.

It was a very long walk to find where his Great Uncle was buried, since he was buried all the way in the back of the cemetery, but we finally made it. You can actually see The Pentagon from his grave site.

Courtney is actually named after his Great Uncle, Richard Courtney Delsi

Richard's Wife

Something else we have wanted to see at the cemetery is the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial. Luckily it was just around the corner from Courtney's Great Uncle

The Pentagon is just passed the trees

Our next stop in the cemetery was to find Matt Urban. He was from Holland, Michigan!! I remember trying to find it once when the whole family was here back in 1994, but I haven't seen it since then. The park that is down the street from my families house is named after him. It is a park that I spent a lot of time at growing up!

We could not go to the cemetery without seeing the Kennedy Family

On our way to The Pentagon Memorial, we decided to stop at the Air Force Memorial. We have always wanted to stop there, but never had, so since we were right there, we made a quick stop.

Now, finally it was off to see the Pentagon Memorial.

It was a great day remembering all the people that risked their lives in the mist of the terrorist attack 11 years ago!

9/11 NEVER FORGET
