Spring Break '17 *DC*

Our time in Baltimore has come to an end, but on our way out, we still wanted to do some exploring.

We decided that if we could find a parking spot in DC, we would walk around and show the kids the Lincoln Memorial. McKaila had learned about some of the presidents in school and when we told her we could go to the Lincoln Memorial, she was so excited.

Thankfully, we were able to find a parking spot. It was a ways to walk to get to the memorial, but in the end it wasn't so bad because we came across Franklin D. Roosevelt's memorial. I had never knew that was even down there, so it was pretty awesome to come across that.

We also got to go by the MLK Jr. memorial. They were still working on the MLK Jr. memorial when we left Maryland, so it was pretty cool to finally see it in person.

I forgot how much I truly love DC when we finally got in front of the Lincoln Memorial. It's such a beautiful monument and I loved going down there when we still lived in Maryland.

McKaila eyes lit up when she saw the memorial in person. It's one thing looking at it on a piece of paper when you are learning in school, but to have it physically in front of you, was so cool to her.

We ended up walking near 5 miles in just a couple hours that morning, but it was well worth it, even while dealing with whinny kids. I loved being able to show the kids the monuments and tell them about the times that mommy and daddy would come down there and explore.

It was a great couple hours of exploring, before hitting the road back to NC.
