Today, we decided to leave Luna behind, so we could explore the Rocky Mountain National Park.
I really can't get over the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. I took countess amounts of pictures while we were in the mountains, but these are some of the favorites.
This first little spot we stopped at, I just got out to take some pictures, but they say at the pond there, that's where all the big horn sheep come during the day. I was extremely bummed that we didn't see any roaming the area, but hopefully next time.
Now, time to get our hiking on.
We stopped at the first parking area that we saw, not knowing what kind of hiking we were getting ourselves into. We bundled up because it was a pretty chilly day and started our hike. Before we knew it, we started hearing water. We had stumbled upon Horseshoe Falls.
The kids did so good walking on all the rocks. McKaila at first wasn't too sure about it, but she got some confidence after a bit and she even started helping out McKenna and Logan with trying to figure out where to step.
As our hike around Horseshoe Falls was coming to an end, it started to snow. The kids loved it and tried catching snowflakes in their mouths. The snowflakes that were falling were so big and made it a perfect way to end the hike.
After our hike, we decided to try to go to other areas to hike, but the snow started to come down harder, so we decided to drive up the mountain as far as we were allowed.
The snow flakes were getting bigger and they were coming down very fast, but we had come to an end. It got to the point where they closed the road. No plowed roads, no animal or human tracks, just a big blanket of snow. It was actually pretty crazy to see the amount of snow that there was up there in the mountains.
It had a great time up in the Rocky Mountain National Park, but it was time to head home and get warm again.
It did stop snowing soon after we got home, but it was time to relax for the afternoon. But we did decided, since it was our last night, that we would walk around downtown. So we went to all the shops and got a wonderful dinner.
Spring break for most of the area was the week prior, so we literally had the town to ourselves, it was wonderful!
