What a great day for an air show!!
The upside to having the air show where Courtney works, is we can get there before everyone and enjoy all the airplanes before all of Cheyenne gets to base. But there is a downside with it being at Courtney's work. He can't enjoy it with us because he has to work. Either way, the kids and I enjoyed it.
We weren't there long, before the kids (mainly Logan) were begging to go on some airplanes. It was incredibly nice to be able to just walk up to an airplane or helicopter and the kids could really sit there and enjoy it without all these other people around waiting for their turns.
We were lucky enough to be able to see the Thunderbirds perform again this year. Well... They performed their show on F.E. Warren (where we live), but they were parked on the guard base (Courtney's work) so we were able to watch them prep the planes and see them take off. We did get to see the Thunderbirds in the sky every once in awhile when they did their turns and went higher in the sky.
We could see a lot more of the performance with them doing it on base rather than what they did last year when they performed at the college. The kids, would get very excited every time they spotted them in the sky (which was more often than not) and tell me to take a picture.
For the final part of the air show, we sat down and enjoyed the arial demonstrations along with watching the Navy parachute team show off their skills in the sky. How they do all those flips and turns in the sky is truly remarkable and a sight to see if you haven't seen them before.
As we were sitting there enjoying the arial performers, we noticed that storms were rolling in. And with about 45 minutes left in the air show we were being told that everyone had to take cover because there was lightning in the area.
The air show may have ended early due to the weather, the rest of the day couldn't have been more perfect. It was a great day for an air show, and we are looking forward to the next one, next year!
