It’s about time to get out of the house and do some exploring. I thought it would be a great morning/afternoon to do some exploring at Swan Lake. Get some fresh air and walk around.
Come to find out, we got much more than that. When we pulled into the parking lot, we noticed there was a lot of tents up and found out that the Sumter Iris Festival was happening. I got a bit excited because I love me some arts and craft shows.
Before venturing to do a little bit of shopping, we had to go to the little petting zoo. McKenna and her love for lambies went running towards the animals. The smile on her face says it all, she loves her farm animals!!!
When Courtney was telling me about Swan Lake, I didn’t really consider it to be surrounded with actual swans. It was so pretty seeing all these different kinds of swans swimming around. I didn’t even realize that there was so many different kinds of swans. It’s rather interesting.
After spending time looking at all the iris’s, we did some a little bit of shopping at the booths they had along with lake. Courtney and I both got something and decided, we wanted to continue our walk around the lake.
We didn’t make it to far before the rain starting falling from the sky. We thought we were going to be able to stay dry under all the trees, but then the rain started coming down even harder and we were no longer staying dry. So, Courtney decided we should make our way to the bridge, at least that way you would be out of the rain.
We got pretty wet walking to the bridge, but once on the bridge, we got to really see how beautiful Swan Lake really was. It was pretty seeing all the swans in the water with all the rain drops hitting the water.
We did stick out the rain for a while and walked the trail that was on the other side of the bridge, but our adventure for today is done.
Swan Lake is beautiful and lucky for us, it’s only about 20 minutes from us. I think we will be spending a lot of here at the lake!!!
