Locks of Love

McKaila made a very selfless act today. She decided to donate her hair to locks of love. 

I had mentioned to her a couple weeks back that it was time to get a haircut. Usually, when it comes to cutting McKaila’s hair, she only wants a trim, but this time, I mentioned that maybe she should go a little more and possibly donate her hair to a little boy or girl that doesn’t have any hair. I was actually pretty surprised when she was all about it, just for the fact that she loves her long hair. 

McKaila was a little nervous leading up to today, you could tell by her face. I asked her if she was feeling okay, she told me she was nervous, but she knew she was doing a good thing, which made the nerves go away a little bit. She has such a good heart and love her so much!

In all, McKaila probably had about 11 inches taken off. She was a little shocked when Olivia (the wonderful young lady who cut McKaila’s hair) made the first couple cuts and then Olivia started handing me the hair and McKaila’s eyes got really big. McKaila just said that it was weird for her to see me holding her hair. It was a bit strange, holding ponytails of McKaila’s hair, but when I looked at her with shoulder length hair, oh my heart. I got tears in my eyes because I feel like she aged a few years. My baby looks so much older now.

We are so proud of McKaila and the thoughtfulness that she has in her heart to want to donate her hair.
