Wishing Heaven Had Visiting Hours

A trip back home isn't complete for me until I go see my Uncle Mitch and both my grandpa's.

Before Courtney and I moved to San Antonio, I would go visit my Uncle and my grandpa Holtgeerts frequently. My grandpa Kuipers passed a year after we left Holland.

The last time we visited was 5 years ago and those were some of my favorite pictures of the girls and I,  next to my uncle and grandpa's headstones.

I don't have pictures of my uncle Mitch and I, but I have told the kids about him and how I know he would have loved being a part of their lives if he was still alive.

It's the same with my grandpa's. I know they would have been overjoyed to be great grandpa's to them, but unlike my uncle, I have pictures of them.

I especially miss this man, my Grandpa Holtgeerts. He left us way too soon and I miss him every single day. And because of that, is why Logan's middle name is James, after my grandpa. It meant so much to me to be able to take Logan here and it took everything I had not to cry when seeing my little man by my grandpa.

I very much wish that these 3 men were still around to not only see me as I grew up, but to see my kids as they are growing. I hope they are proud of everything I have done with my life and really hope they are watching over my family.
