Happy Halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Leading up to Halloween, the forecast kept saying that it was going to be very cold with a chance of snow. So, days leading up to Halloween, we had a talk with the kids, telling them they may not get the chance to go trick or treating because it was going to be too cold. We did say, if they truly wanted to, they could, but they would have to bundle up.

Thankfully, the girls school puts on a fall festival where the kids can still dress up in their costumes, play some games and enjoy pizza, all in the comfort of the warmness. I don't think it really mattered what we were doing, as long as the kids got to dress up, they were happy!

I love that our kids love to play dress up and have a closet full of dress up clothes because when I ask what they want to be for Halloween, they run up to the closet and find something in there to dress up as.

McKenna didn't think twice and decided on being Ariel this year. Right away, McKenna brought up that we didn't have a red wig for her to wear, so she could be just like Ariel. So, when I brought up just buying spray and use that to color her hair red, she was ecstatic. When McKenna turned into Ariel, so became a princess. She twirled and had soft movements just like a really princess. I believe we have a real actress on our hands.

When we asked Logan what he wanted to be for Halloween, he straight out said he wanted to be a fire fighter again this year. We kept asking if he wanted to be anything different, but he was stuck on becoming a fire fighter for Halloween. Then comes the night before. We get everything out to become a fire fighter, and then he spots his McQueen fire suit and he quickly decided that he wanted to wear his fire suit to be like Chase and Dale.

McKaila, she was determined to make a costume so she could be light fury from How to Train Your Dragon. She came up with her whole costume all on her own. She made her own light fury ears along with her own tail. We had to buy some wings and face makeup, but other than that, McKaila found everything else in her closet. McKaila has some amazing ideas, and I love that she goes with them and creates them all on her own!

The kids had a lot of fun going to school, eating some pizza, playing games and seeing lots of their friends. They even got to enjoy a small haunted house that they created inside the school, which they thought was very cool.

The nice thing about going to school is the kids don't get any candy. It's about getting small little Halloween trinkets, but they enjoy those little things, and it's much better than candy.

Halloween night came around, and yes it was so very cold, but McKenna and Logan were determined to talk us into letting them go trick or treating. We told them if they really wanted to go trick or treating, then they would have to put their snow pants and winter jackets on so they would stay warm. They agreed and from there, they created their own costumes. McKenna put on a cape and mask and turned into batgirl and Logan turned into the hulk, which he was super excited about. While, McKenna was trying to figure out what she was going to be, she had to make sure that Daddy also had something to wear, so Courtney turned into Spiderman.

McKaila, she said it was a no go on trick or treating from the beginning. She doesn't like the cold at all, so she agreed to stay with me and hand out candy. Her only request, even though she was staying inside with me, she still wanted to dress up.

She was very excited about her light fury costume, that she wanted to show it off as often as possible.

Even though Halloween night was cold, everyone enjoyed themselves and that's all that matters at the end of the day.
