SURPRISE!!!
Little did the kids know, we had another surprise in store for them. All we had told them is that even though we had school work to do, Daddy had the day off, so we were going to be enjoying the day in Denver.
They had no idea we were even heading towards the airport. I had given them their iPads, so they were pretty clueless with what was going on around them, which was the point, especially as we got closer to the airport. Once we were starting to get closer and you could see the airplanes, McKenna mentioned that it seemed like we were going to the airport. I believe it was Logan that than mentioned that we were going to pick up Auntie.
Thank goodness, Courtney had some quick thinking and said that he had to get something at the airport for work. They believed it!!
They literally had no idea that Auntie was the one we were picking up, so when we finally spotted her, I told the kids to look up and dang, I sure wish I would have had my phone ready for pictures, cuz the look on their faces was beyond priceless. I think that was the best surprise we have ever pulled off!!
The kids were even more excited that Auntie would be spending a whole week with us!!
Even though it was technically a school week, we only had zoom calls with teachers, which was nice cuz the kids were able to really enjoy sometime with Auntie, without having to do a bunch of school work too.
We got to enjoy a walk around the base lakes, the girls enjoyed an afternoon of bike rides, and well, the best thing of it all, just enjoying being together!!
McKaila even got to enjoy some one on one time with Auntie by being able to stay up a little later than normal. McKaila's choice was to always play some UNO and end it with some jumping on the trampoline. McKaila's smile was never bigger than when she was spending her time with Auntie.
Another little surprise we had for the kids, is that we were ending Aunties vacation here with a trip to the mountains. We have taken her into Estes Park, but we were never able to take her into the mountains. So, my surprise was that we got an Air B&B for a night, so we could enjoy the mountains a little more the next day!
Let's just say everyone was very excited about spending some more time in the mountains, even though our first day was going to be a perfect (weather wise) and when we would wake up the next morning, there would be snow on the ground and very chilly. Got to say, it was interesting to pack shorts and tee shirts along with long pants and winter jackets.
