Good Morning from the mountains!
oh and thanks mother nature for the snow
I couldn't be too mad about the snow because there is something about having it snow when you are in the mountains that makes it so magical. However, I do NOT think this way while it's snowing in Cheyenne, nope, the snow can stay away. But, when it's snowing in the mountains, it's just so peaceful and you really don't think of how cold you are. Strange, right?!?
The kids were very excited to wake up and see that there was big flakes falling from the sky. Right away they asked if they could play in in, but we needed to enjoy the inside of our cabin a little more before they got all wet and cold.

Time to leave... it was so hard to leave. I easily could have stayed a couple more days!
But, off to drive around and see what animals we could find in RMNP!
Our first stop, since we were on the side of the park, we wanted to stop at Sprague Lake. There was some wind and snow falling, so we didn't want to walk too far 'cuz we didn't really want to come home and all be sick, so we stayed for a bit, and quickly got back into the warm car.
We were very happy to find out that during this snow fall, the elk were out in full force. We came across an area that on either side of us, there were tons of elk roaming around. It is rut season, so the males were fighting to keep the females on their side. It was fun to watch the males wrangle the females back in if they were venturing away from them.
I always feel so sad leaving the mountains. No matter if it's blazing hot or ice cold in the mountains, it's a magical place. A place where you pull to the side of the road and just take in the scenery and forget about all the troubles in the world. To take a deep breath, close your eyes, and listen to nature. It feels like a whole different world and I will never take for granted being able to travel to the mountains right now.
