Off to the pumpkin patch we go!!
We loaded up in Courtney's new truck (yup, Courtney got a new truck) and headed to Colorado to get some pumpkins. The kids were looking forward to this day for the past week. They knew that the day after Courtney got back from North Carolina (where he picked up his truck from) we would be going to the pumpkin patch.
In the handful of times that we have traveled to Colorado since the corona, we have always passed the Budweiser plant/brewery and have noticed that the clydesdales are there. I believe Fort Collins is their home when they aren't traveling for events. Courtney and I always say that on our way back to Cheyenne we will stop by and see the clydesdales, but we never do.
So, this time, we saw that they were roaming around and we saw that people were at the fence by them, so we got off the highway to check it out. Little did I know that we would end up hanging out there for the next half hour, but the kids eyes got so big when we pulled up to them. They thought that these were regular horses, not huge horses. They were in complete amazement. They were also very excited that soon after we pulled up, the Dalmatians came running out to greet everyone.
It was very hard to pull the kids away from the clydesdales because at the end, we were the only people left hanging out with them, so they were able to give the clydesdales lots of attention without all the other kids around.
But, off to the pumpkin patch we went. We were there on a Thursday afternoon and as long as we are living in Cheyenne, we will be attending the pumpkin patch on a weekday afternoon from now on. There was nobody there and it was awesome. I was able to take pictures without trying to dodge other people. We literally could roam the pumpkin patch and not see a single person. It was great!
We did a lot of roaming around in the pumpkin patch and found some great finds. The kids each picked out a few different pumpkins or gourds for their rooms and also helped pick out some great pumpkins for around the house!
We did have to deal with the smoke in the air. Thankfully, the smell wasn't horrible, but you could smell it and you for sure could see it. Especially as the sun was setting behind the mountains. It's so sad that the smoke in the sky is so bad that you can't even see the mountains.
After spending a good amount of time in the pumpkin patch, it was time to let the kids play around a little bit. They climbed on the hay bales and spent some time petting the baby donkey.
It was a very fun afternoon at Bartels!! I highly recommend Bartels to anyone that I talk to that lives in Wyoming or Colorado. I think it's amazing and they have great prices. For all the pumpkins that we got and some snacks for the kids, it was only $25. What a steal!!
Now, for my favorite part, watching the kids clean up all the pumpkins. And believe it or not, they were so happy to be doing it. They were begging to clean up the pumpkins the next day, but only after they had finished their school work for the day.
We got some great pumpkins and made some even better memories to add to our already great memories that we share as a family!!
I love this time of year!!
