We took full advantage of the Texas sunshine, more so the kids. The kids especially spent most days, spending time at the pool with grandpa and grandma Nancy. The kids couldn't get enough of it. I honestly wasn't too sure how well they would do in the pool. All 3 of them took swimming lessons, but than covid happened, so they didn't have a chance to truly enough a pool after that.
These kids truly missed their grandpa and grandma as did Courtney and I. It's always so hard being away from family, so being able to make this trip happen in such short notice was so nice.
The girls really loved helping grandma in the kitchen. They helped make pizza dough and especially loved helping her make cookies.
The last time we were in Texas, Logan hadn't even started walking yet, so we wanted to show the kids as much of San Antonio as we could since they were so little the last time we were here and don't remember any of it.
It's still pretty crazy to me that we lived in San Antonio for 2 years. My first time living anywhere other than Holland, so it was a big change for me, but so glad we did it. We made some great memories living in San Antonio, so we wanted to show the kids some places we loved going back then, especially the River Walk.
It was a big bummer that my favorite restaurant wasn't open, but we found some other great food and was able to eat along side the river.
One place we made multiple visits to while we were there, was Buc-ees. What an amazing place and we just couldn't get enough of it. It is a gas station, yes, but it's also so much more than that. They have clothes, food, drinks, household items and everything in between.
Courtney and I were even able to enjoy a day date. Courtney and I don't get much alone time these days, so it's always nice when we have family that are willing to hang out with the kids while we enjoy some adult time together.
We decided to head to Gruene for our day date. We enjoyed this little town back when we lived in Texas, so we knew this was a place we wanted to go too. We enjoyed some drinks and appetizers and enjoyed walked around town and going into all the little shops.
During our travels I got the kids into playing the license plate game. They got very into it and all 3 of them checked every car we went by. They would get so excited when they found a new license plate that we didn't have yet. I was very surprised at how many we found and only had a handful of states that we didn't find.
Our trip was not long enough, but got to get back to our animals and to start our new school year.
We will be back soon, Texas!!!
