Time for our new tradition, cutting down our own Christmas tree!
We all look forward to exploring the national forest looking for the best tree. Last year may have been the first year we cut down our own Christmas tree, but it’s something that we all really looked forward to doing again this year. Being able to hunt for the perfect tree is all about the experience with the family. We all have lots of fun, especially the kids.
The kids were very excited when they saw that there was snow. We weren’t sure what weather we were going to find up there, but I made sure to pack all their winter gear just in case. Thankfully, I did because even though there wasn’t a ton of snow, there was enough for the kids to enjoy some sledding and rolling around in the snow.
While on the hunt for our tree, I started hearing some water. So, as I do when we’re hiking, I just keep walking and was happy to find that there was a river flowing. Beautiful!! I always love coming across something I wasn’t expecting.
It may have been a little chilly, but I could have sat there and listened to the water and the sound of nature all day. It’s so incredibly calming.
After spending some time by the water, it was time to get back on the hunt for our Christmas tree. And it didn’t take long either. We found our perfect tree not too far from the river.
Once we made sure that the tree wasn’t going to be too big for the house, it was time to get a cutting. This year, Logan helped daddy use the saw to get down the tree. He was pretty proud of himself once the tree fell!
It was such a great afternoon. We did lots of walking and lots of looking around and just enjoyed being in nature!
I love getting to explore all these different places and make lots of new memories as a family.
