Happy 9th Birthday, McKenna Grace!

 Another year down!!
McKenna Grace is 9 years old!!!

I honestly don’t know where the time has gone. It’s like I blinked and our middle child is 9 years old. It really does feel like yesterday, that we were heading to the hospital, so we could finally meet our little girl.

This birthday was a little different for McKenna. She got to celebrate her birthday, just like normal, but daddy wasn’t here to celebrate with us, so that was really hard for her. Courtney has missed birthdays before, but never McKenna’s. She’s our sensitive soul, so it made her pretty sad that he wasn’t going to be here. She shed some tears the night before because he wasn’t going to be here, but once she woke up and saw all the decorations and presents, all her sadness went away.

Courtney wasn’t here due to the fact that he was driving the truck to South Carolina. He drove there, so he could leave the truck there (he’ll fly home and we all travel together in the van) and also sign the last of the papers for our house.
WE ARE NOW HOME OWNERS!!

It sure is a huge task doing birthday decorations on my own, but after a couple hours, it was complete. I was exhausted, but it was all worth it, when I saw McKenna’s smiling face walking down the stairs.

Out of the 3 kiddos, McKenna is always the one that is the most excited for her birthdays. She always tries to guess what she’s going to get and what we will decorate the house with. More than likely she always guesses what we will decorate the house with, but especially this year, she had no clue what she was going to get for her birthday.

When grandma Kuipers asked McKenna what she wanted for her birthday, she said Holland, Michigan stuff!! I was pretty shocked to hear her say that, but it also made my heart so happy that she wanted stuff from our hometown.

McKenna was so excited with every present that she opened, especially when she saw the Holland stuff! Her expressions say it all when it comes to opening her presents. She was so happy with every rip she did of that wrapping paper.

She may have been sad that her daddy wasn’t here, but getting spoiled for her birthday, made the sadness go away and she enjoyed her day as much as she could.

McKenna also wanted to make her own birthday cake. It may have only been box cake, but she was so happy to be able to be making her own cake. She even put her own frosting and sprinkles on.

She was a pretty proud 9 year old, little girl!!

No birthday is complete without singing “happy birthday” with Auntie via FaceTime.

My crazy, smart, and silly 9 year old, I love you so much!!
