Holland will always be home, so to be able to have a handful of days in Holland was great! The only downside was that I was solo, the rest of the family had to stay back in SC for school.
Being in Holland usually means go-go-go, so this time knowing that I was only really there for Ambers bridal shower meant I could really take in Holland a little more than I usually would.
Being back on my old stomping grounds, brought back so many memories. Happy memories. It always feels good to be back and I miss it a lot, but I will always be grateful that my family gets to move to all these new places and see things that I didn’t get to see growing up.
A trip home is never complete until I spend time with my grandpa’s and uncle Mitch at their gravesites. I miss them so much and I hope they are proud of me. It’s also not complete without spending time with my grandma’s. Even though the bridal shower was a great time, being able to spend time with my grandma’s was the highlight to the trip. I miss them a lot, so to be able to spend sometime with them at their houses, filled my heart.
After having a delicious lunch at Taco Fiesta, Amber, Emily and myself wanted to do some shopping downtown. So much has changed downtown, with so many cute shops. I was lucky that I flew or else I would have bought so much more… hahaha
No better way to end a Friday, then a Holland High football game. Unfortunately, this was going to be the last varsity football game for Holland, so the stands were pretty full. It was a good turn out to show support to those seniors that will no longer be able to finish out their football season.
It was a bit strange being there. I felt like I needed to be on the sidelines cheering/coaching because the last time I was there, it was when I was coaching. I did have a good time and it was great to see some people that I otherwise probably wouldn’t see on a trip to Holland, so all in all, it was a Good Friday night.
After Amber’s bridal shower, it was time to get some drinks and appetizers at Boatwerks with a couple of our favorite people, Jodi and Gina!!
What a fun night of laughing and stories!!!
To end my visit, my parents took me to get a very yummy Chinese dinner, followed up with a ride through Grand Haven. I can honestly say, I haven’t spent too much in Grand Haven, so I was pretty in awe when we were driving around. Then we got to Lake Michigan.
WOW!!!
I forgot how much I truly missed the beach and watching the sunset. Beyond beautiful, I just wish my hubby and kids were there with me to enjoy it. But, I did get to enjoy the beautiful sunset with my parents, which I am grateful for! It was a perfect way to end my trip!!
