WE’RE GOING TO THE ROVAL!!!
The girls always talk about how they want to go to a race again and Logan just wants to go to a race because he was so small when we were going to the races, that he doesn’t even remember going to them. Lucky for us, we are back living in the Carolina’s and we have many tracks close by. One in particular that we love going to is Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The ROVAL race at Charlotte Motor Speedway was quickly approaching us and I mentioned to Courtney that we should go to the race. So, Courtney reached out to a lady he used to talk to when we lived in NC and she helped us get tickets to the race!
When Courtney showed me our tickets to the race, I literally couldn’t believe it. When we told the kids that we were going to go to a race, they started jumping up and down. We were all so ready to watch some racing!!
Race day morning, was an early morning for us. We had to drive 2 hours to get to Charlotte. The race didn’t start until mid afternoon, but we wanted to go to the Hendrick shop before going to the track. And Courtney got us passes to go onto the track prior to the race, so we had a busy morning ahead of us.
I loved being at Hendrick again. It felt great to be around other race fans again! My heart was happy, I was happy, we were all happy!! Logan’s face lit up when he walked into the Hendrick museum/shop because he doesn’t ever remember coming here. He wanted to look at everything and was just in awe every where he looked!
After spending a good amount of time at the shops, it was time to head to the race track!
There is nothing like experiencing the racetrack on race day. It’s amazing and so much fun! I just feel so grateful that we get to experience this together as a family!
As part of our tickets to go on the track, we got to be up by the stage for interviews with the Hendrick drivers, minus Alex Bowman because he had a concussion.
Holy moly was it so awesome that we got to be this close to our favorite drivers. First up Chase Elliott!! Then, Willy B, ending with Kyle Larson!!
After the drivers interviews were complete, it was time to explore the track. We hung out on the track and even got to walk the wall up and down pit road. It’s always so cool to get that close to the cars and being able to watch the pit crew members getting the cars ready for the race.
Not only did we get to be on the track for the driver interviews, but we also got to be down there for the pre-race concert featuring Nelly!
Once the pre-race concert was complete, it was time to get ready for driver intros and we got to be down there for that too! While we were waiting for everything to begin, we spotted the driver that made me a fan, Dale Jr. He didn’t stay by us long, but it was pretty sweet to have that all happening right in front of us.
We also got to see our favorite NASCAR twitter guy, Bob Pockrass, who keeps us all up to date on all things NASCAR even during the race.
Time for driver intros!! While everyone was paying attention to the drivers being announced, I kept an eye at all the commotion that was going on in front of us. Which led me to see Kurt Busch, who was out due to a concussion and also spotted Jeff Gordon. Pretty sweet seeing such top people in the NASCAR world.
Even though it was very cool being able to be down by the track all morning, I was looking forward to getting to our seats and watch the race!!
For most of the race, the most popular driver and my favorite driver, Chase Elliott was leading the race. With a crazy lead to everyone else, a caution comes out for a billboard falling onto the track. With that, Chase had to pit and then started in mid pack, which led Christopher Bell to the lead and won the race.
Not the winner we wanted to see, but oh well, at least Chase was up there for most of the race.
It was an amazing day at the race track. Perfect weather and so much fun!
It may have been a long day, but it sure was worth it to be back at the racetrack!!
We are all looking forward to more races in our near future!
