We have been wanting to go to the ocean since moving here, but just haven’t found the time just yet. No better time than now, and make it like a birthday fun day for McKaila!
When we mentioned it to McKaila about going to the ocean, she got very excited. She was excited about looking for shells and possibly shark teeth, so she was game from the very beginning.
What she didn’t know along with McKenna and Logan, was that Auntie was in Charleston with some friends and we were going to stop and see her for a bit. We didn’t want to take her away from what she was doing, but we couldn’t not stop when we were in the same city.
It was great seeing my sister! As always, not matter how long or little, it’s never enough, just thankful for any time we can see each other!
Now, time to do some exploring. First we spent time at the Charleston City Market! So cool! And so fun!! Unfortunately, I was so busy taking everything in, that I didn’t take any pictures. It’s going to be one of those places that we go to anytime we go into Charleston, that is for sure!
Before getting lunch, we wanted to go by the water. There was lots of sailboats and a few barges going in and out! The kids really enjoyed sitting there watching all the boats. They were so little when we lived in Biloxi, that they don’t remember being on the water and watching all the boats there.
We filled our bellies with some amazing seafood and then it was off to put our toes in the sand! I sure do miss the water. I mean, I don’t like going into the ocean, but I do love sitting there listening to the waves! I still would choose to be on the mountain side, but sitting there listening to the waves was pretty dang relaxing.
Once we got things settled on the beach, McKaila asked if she could walk the shore with just daddy and I. Umm…. YES!!!
Grandma Nancy stayed with Logan and McKenna while we took a nice long stroll on the beach. McKaila was loving it. She found so many cool shells and she was loving getting splashed by the waves. It made our hearts so happy to see how happy McKaila was during our time with her.
Our afternoon at the beach was just what we all needed. The kids constantly were saying how much fun they had and how much they wanted to come back and I’m sure we will be back. Charleston has a piece of our hearts now and we look forward to many more adventures to the beach!!
