Since moving here, all Courtney and I talked about is how we need to go to a race at Darlington Raceway, especially during throwback weekend. It’s a 45 minute drive from our home, so why wouldn’t we want to go?!?
After contacting some people, Courtney got an email saying that there was some extra tickets for us, so we’re going to DARLINGTON!! I’m so excited!!!
With not having ever been to Darlington, we weren’t really sure what to expect when we arrived. But oh my… It was just a NASCAR fans dream!! There was so much stuff going on everywhere and it was amazing!!
What we didn’t know is that in the fan zone, they were having drivers come to the stage to chat for a bit, so even though we were hot and wanted to get to our seats, we needed to stick around and wait for all the drivers.
I knew coming into this race that they were doing a special ceremony for the top 75 drivers before the race. What I didn’t know is that some of those drivers were going to be chatting at the fan zone.
We saw Bill Elliott (Chase’s Dad), Rusty Wallace, Jeff Burton, Carl Edwards, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matt Kenseth, and Kasey Kahne.
It was pretty sweet being able to see all these incredible drives, especially when we weren’t expecting to see them.
After walking through all the merchandise haulers and the fan zone, it was finally time to head to our seats. We all got huge smiles on our faces when we saw everything going on down on the track. It sure is amazing seeing everything, especially for the first time.
Unfortunately, Chase Elliott (My favorite driver) or Kyle Larson (Courtney’s favorite driver) didn’t win, but a Hendrick driver did win and that’s a-ok for us as fans!!
GO WILLIE B!!! #24!!
Being at the Darlington race was so much fun and it made it so much better seeing how much the kids got into it. I love it and I love that we will have all these NASCAR memories as a family. And I really look forward to going back to Darlington any chance we can!
