On A Moose Hunt

I'm on a mission to find a moose.

So, when we found out that the route we had taken with Amber while she was here, if we would have just gone a bit further, we would have come across where the moose frequently roam around. I was determined to head back in that direction, so when Courtney finally got a weekend off, it was time to head up to the mountains.

In Cheyenne it was going to be a gorgeous day, but in the mountains, it was still going to be pretty chilly, but we still wanted to prepare if we wanted to hike in the mountains. So, we packed up all the winter jackets, snow pants, hats and gloves. With it being cold, but knowing there would be nowhere to enjoy some lunch, we also packed up lunch to enjoy a little picnic in the car.

We did decided to take a different route than with Amber but that would lead to the same place. Wow, so glad we did. The views were beautiful. I took tons of pictures of our drive, but the pictures don't do it justice. I mean, I don't know what it is, but snow covered mountains are just breathtaking to look at.

When Courtney was looking at the map and where to go, he came across the perfect place to go. The Moose Visitors Center. It wasn't anything special by any means, but we found out some good information. Information that helped us figure out that will be having to come back in the summer months to be able to truly see a moose.

Yup, I was pretty bummed to hear that, but excited that we'll be going back in the summer to find us some moose. And we talked about possibly renting a cabin for a night, so we can possibly spy some in the early mornings.

It was a lot colder and winder than we originally thought it would be up in the mountains, so even though the kids were really itching to get out of the car and do some hiking, it just wasn't going to be possible to do so. Even though we couldn't go hiking, to my surprise they were excited to have a picnic in the car. The little things that make them excited, but they were so pumped to be eating on the floor of the car. Whatever makes you happy kids and stop whining for a little bit, is good with me.

The kids were more then ready to get out of the car and for the most part they behaved while in the car, so we decided to treat them to some dinner somewhere. But before dinner, we wanted to roam around one of our favorite stores in CO. Scheels!

We all like to just walk around Scheels. We don't typically come out of the store with anything, but we always spend a lot of time walking around the store looking at everything. I can't count how many times we have been there, but every single time, the kids need to go take pictures by the bear and monster truck. They do also have a Ferris wheel in the middle of the store, that we have been on before, but that's a one time thing for us. The kids loved it, and ask about going on it again every single time we are there, but I'm not a fan, so it's a no go on going on that again.

When we walked out of the store, I was in awe. The sky was beyond beautiful. I couldn't help but take a ton of pictures, but just like the pictures of the mountains, it doesn't do it justice. The sky looked like a painting, it was gorgeous.

It was a long day on the road, but it was a beautiful drive and even though we didn't really do much, it was still a great day! Looking forward to warmer days ahead, when we'll be able to do stuff like this more often and do some hiking.
