The purple pride day parade couldn't have come at a better time! Yesterday, we were informed that school would no longer be in session for the remainder of the year and we would have to continue with remote learning. I was very nervous to tell the girls, especially McKaila.
McKaila is having a little bit of a harder time with it, then McKenna. McKaila misses her teacher and friends a lot. This is the first year she has really connected with a couple girls in class and see feels sad that she didn't even get to say good bye to them and give each other hugs before all this started.
As for McKenna, she's just like "oh well" She does miss her teacher and her friends, but it hasn't affected her like it has McKaila. But then again, McKenna has always been like that. She very much of a go with the flow girl.
The parade started off with the principle of Freedom Elementary, Mr. Delbridge!
The girls looked back at me with huge smiles after they saw him. They always liked seeing him in the morning and him greeting them by saying "hey there Polnicky girls!"
It was hard to not get emotional during the parade. It's hard thinking that the girls are missing so much. They both had incredible teachers and friends, so for me personally, it was hard holding in my tears.
I did remind the girls a couple different times that they needed to make sure they put on their biggest smiles for their teachers because they wouldn't' be seeing them in the classroom anymore this school year and they would only be seeing them through the computer screen.
The girls both had huge smiles on their faces when the parade was over.
It sure went by quickly, but so happy that it happened!! The girls needed that parade, we all needed it!!
