Happy Halloween

Halloween started a couple days early for McKaila. She was able to share her costume with all her friends on her zoom class.

McKaila got very creative with her costume this year. She created it all by herself and if she needed any help from Courtney, she was able to let him know every little bit of her vision and Courtney was able to make it happen, with the help from McKaila.

McKaila knew exactly what she wanted with every bit of her costume, down to the paint she wanted to use and it turned out amazing!

If anyone is wondering, McKaila, herself is Astrid and her dragon that she created is Stormfly. This is all from the movie, How To Train Your Dragon.

The kids got an extra surprise from Grandma and Grandpa Kuipers for halloween.

They were excited when they opened their cards and saw they each got $10. These kids have been loving getting cash in their cards. Even if it's a dollar, these kids get very excited to add it to the money they are saving.

Grandma and Grandpa Kuipers also got each of them their own halloween cookie kits. They were given sugar cookies in different shapes along with some frosting to decorate with. For some reason I didn't take pictures of them decorating their cookies, but they loved being able to be creative with their cooking decorating.

Halloween is here and we had a long talk with the kids about trick or treating. It just wasn't going to happen this year. Trick or Treating was still a go on base, but we thought it would be much safer just staying indoors and having our own fun. The kids still got in their costumes and while they were getting dressed in their costumes, Courtney and I were hiding candy around the house for them to find.

It's a simple thing like hiding candy around the house and having the kids get excited about it, that makes me happy. It's hard telling the kids they aren't able to do certain things because of the corona, but they are starting to see the upside to it all.

Holidays and celebrations may look different these days, but we are trying to make the best of it! It sure does make your heart sad not to be able to do certain things, but because of all this, we have been able to get creative about what we do for birthdays, holidays and celebrations. In the end, it just makes us all that much closer and I will never forget these memories that we have created inside these 4 walls of our house.
