Pebbles

We knew this time would be coming sooner than later when it came to Pebbles, but it also came a lot quicker than we ever expected.

It was the middle of the afternoon, when all of a sudden Pebbles started to have, what we think, was a seizure. Courtney quickly called the vet and they told him to get Pebbles in right away, to be checked out. In times of COVID, Courtney could only drop off Pebbles and they would keep her there for a couple hours to do all the test necessary to figure out what was wrong with her.

Unfortunately, we didn't get any positive news back from all the tests that were run on her. The vet basically said that at this point, her insides were pretty much, a ticking time bomb.

We have never wanted this for her or for any of our other animals, to suffer in any way, so we had to make a pretty quick decision and we didn't make it lightly. We made the hard decision to put her to sleep, so she could run freely with Roxy, Simon, and Sadie.

The kids took it pretty hard when we told them about Pebbles, especially McKaila. I think it's a little harder for them to understand, because Pebbles seemed alright from the outside. We had to explain to them a handful of times, that it's her insides that are making her not feel good and why we had to make this decision.

So, the night before Pebbles got lots and lots of cuddles from the kids, but it wasn't until the morning of that it really hit us all really hard. The kids asked to have me take lots of pictures of them with Pebbles and they made sure to give her some extra cuddles.

We always like to give our fur babies one last yummy treat before saying our good byes, so Courtney ran out and got Pebbles some ice cream. We usually do some French fries or something, but Pebbles no longer had many teeth, so ice cream was the best bet. And Pebbles enjoyed it! She was licking it right up and didn't want to stop.

I would have to say Pebbles fully enjoyed her last couple days here on earth with us. It may be very hard on us to see her leave us like this, but I know in my heart this is what was best for her. And even though I am currently crying while typing this, my heart is happy knowing that she had Roxy, Simon and Sadie meeting her at the rainbow bridge. They are all together now, young and running free!

We miss you so much Pebbles!!!
