Well... That was fun
(NOT)
The week leading up to this crazy snow storm, they were saying it was going to start on Thursday night and with in a couple day span, we could receive 30 plus inches of snow.
Thursday came and went, nothing. Friday, came and went, nothing. I honestly started thinking, they were so wrong and we won't be getting any of this snow that they keep talking about. Boy, was I wrong.
Saturday night, we went to take the dogs out before bed and to our amazement, the snow had started. And it was coming down fast, really fast.
Thankfully, a few days prior I had stumbled upon a video of these people. They built their dog a little hut so their dog could to go to the bathroom and not go out into the snow. I sent it to Courtney and after work he was getting wood to build it, so Emma would have something to go potty in. We weren't concerned about Luna, she loves the snow, wind, not so much, but she loves the snow. But, if we were going to get as much snow as they were saying, we would loose Emma in all the snow.
I'm so glad Courtney built something. Emma loved it and it was so nice not having to worry about getting her to go potty outside.
The next morning, we were unsure what we were going to wake up too. The wind was blowing and it was snowing like crazy. The view looking out the window while I was drinking my morning coffee that next morning, it looked very pretty, but once you notice how much snow is actually out there, it's mind-blowing.
Courtney decided that he needed to try to tackle the snow in the drive way little by little. He wasn't too happy about all the snow and is more than ready to get out of here and head south!
In the end, Courtney went out a handful of times to snowplow the snow in the driveway. It was compacted that once he got further down the driveway, the snow got even harder to snowplow. He ended up having to break up the snow with a shovel and then take the snowblower to it. It was a long process, but he finally made it to the road and the road hadn't even been plowed yet.
So grateful we had a dry spot in the hut for Emma to use the bathroom because there would have been no way that she would have gone outside in this mess. Luna even questioned it. The wind was blowing so bad that our back door always had a bunch of snow in front of it. At first, Luna wasn't too sure about it, but after while, she got so used to that she would just jump over the drift in front of the door.
This storm brought over 30 inches of snow to our area and with that we had a total of 5 snow days. Wasn't expecting all the snow days to come with this, but the kids were happy about no school!! (yes, we still got to enjoy the snow days even though we are doing virtual school)
The kids couldn't wait to get outside and enjoy all the snow. They couldn't get enough of it. If these kids had their choice they would have stayed outside in the snow all day.
Along with having snow days for school, Courtney also got to enjoy some snow days at home. They basically shut down the town of Cheyenne because the snow and drifts were so bad. Base was even closed for a few days. You couldn't drive anywhere and everything on base was closed. It was pretty crazy.
It took a few days before our street was even plowed. Once they finally did, we decided to walk around the neighborhood. If we couldn't drive on base, mind as well go walking around base. It was crazy seeing how high some of the snow drifts were or even how high the mounds of snow were after they had plowed. The kids really enjoyed trying to climb anything they could and couldn't believe that with one snow pile, they were half way up the tree.
