Christmas Eve

 MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!!

As every Christmas Eve goes, it’s a busy time in the Polnicky household.

The morning starts with the kids coming down the stairs and finding where our elf, Dilly is. As always, Dilly leaves a new pair of Christmas pjs for each kid to wear on Christmas Day.

When we were all ready for the day, it was time to start making Christmas cookies!

Each kid lended a helping hand in making cookies, but our little baker, McKenna made sure she helped in every way possible. She was in baker heaven.

Maybe next year, we will actually make our cookies from scratch, I’m sure the kids would really love that!

After baking in the oven and some cooling down time, it was time to decorate the cookies, the kids favorite part. This year we didn’t make as many cookies as we usually do because half the time I end up throwing away all but the ones that are left out for Santa.
(Which is right again for this year)

After decorating cookies, it was time to eat our turkey dinner. We actually had a mini Thanksgiving dinner because we had some turkey breast in the freezer and just like Thanksgiving dinner, our Christmas Eve dinner was delish!!

We ate dinner early because we always want to have enough time in our night to watch a movie, but we got done super early, so we told the kids to get in their Christmas pjs and hop in the car with the dogs and go look at the Christmas lights around Cheyenne.

After a good hour of driving around Cheyenne, it was time to head home and watch our movie.

Just like every other Christmas Eve, the movie that we watch together as a family is the Polar Express!!
The Polar Express will always be a family favorite at Christmas time! And movie time isn’t complete without enjoying some popcorn, which is everyone’s favorite!

By the time the movie was done, the kids were more than ready to go to bed, but first, story time! Christmas Eve night isn’t complete until T’was The Night Before Christmas is read.

But, before they could get comfy in their covers, they had to leave out cookies and treats for Santa and the reindeer. To be honest, we almost forgot to put out cookies and treats. I remembered after putting the kids to bed, so I had to go get them out of bed to get the treats ready.
Opps….

It was a busy Christmas Eve, but it was enjoyed by all of us. By the end of the night, we were all ready to get to bed and listen for the bells on the reindeer.
