It has been a while since we spent some time in the mountains. I have been saying to Courtney over and over again, “I need some time in the mountains!” I didn’t necessarily need to spend a night in the mountains, I just needed to get out of Cheyenne and go to my calm place. But, Courtney decided it was important for all of us to spend some time in the mountains, so he looked up the cabin that we liked to stay in and it was available for us to stay in this weekend!!
The cabin was booked and within a few days, we were in the truck, heading to the mountains!
Before we went to the cabin, I wanted to get some shopping in. So, our first stop was downtown Estes. It was pretty cold and the kids were complaining, of course, but as soon as they got their taffy, they were more than happy.
After a good bit of time walking around downtown, it was time to head to the cabin for a couple nights!!
When we walked through the door of the cabin, it literally was an instant calm that washed over me. I don’t know what it is, but this place just puts a calm feeling inside me. As we walked inside the cabin, I saw some gorgeous flowers. Courtney, my amazing husband, surprised me with flowers and chocolates. What a wonderful surprise!!!
It didn’t take long before we had the fire going, all while the kids were running around upstairs getting their things in the right place.
Before long, the kids were in their pjs and heading downstairs. The kids were beyond happy with the surprise that they added to the cabin. A foosball table!!
Our first day in Estes was a success! Found some great deals downtown, had a great dinner and while the kids played, Courtney and I enjoyed the warmth of the fire!!
