Airplanes

On Monday, October 24, which is McKaila's birthday, as a family we went to pick up Jimmy Johns for lunch, then headed to the park to watch the airplanes. McKaila loves going to the park and doing that, so what better thing to do on her birthday!! There weren't a whole lot of people there, so McKaila was enjoying walking around where ever she pleased, for the most part.

The planes were really loud, so we had to cover those little ears of hers

Later that night, we went back to my parents motel to go swimming. McKaila has been in her little pool this summer, but it was the first time she was going into a big pool. She loved it. Courtney took her in and every few minutes he would get out because she was cold. But all she wanted to do was get back in.

Happy Birthday McKaila Rose

Today, we celebrated McKaila's First Birthday!!

We are so thankful that so many people were able to come out to help us celebrate. We had our families from Holland, Michigan come. Grandma Polnicky, Grandpa and Grandma Kuipers, Great Grandma Kuipers, and Great Grandma Holtgeerts. Auntie Amber came with David and his two boys, Cameron and Brayden. We also had some great friends with their babies come. Jody and Rolando Correa, and their daughter Lily. Also, Heather Julian and her daughter, Careena.
McKaila ofcoarse had no interest opening up presents. So I (Heather) opened them all and then all the babies gathered around them afterwards. McKaila was having a ball!!

Next came time for the birthday cake. We got McKaila her very own birthday cake, so she could dig right in and make all the mess she wanted. We were really looking forward to seeing her smash the cake into her face, but she just kept taking little pieces at a time.

She loved everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to her

Sticks and Leaves

Whenever we are outside, McKaila always finds something that she holds onto for the remaining time we are outdoors. Usually it's a stick and now with the leaves falling, she loves to go to a pile of leaves and pick one and walk around with it. Even if she falls, she won't let go of it. Today, her choice was a stick. She took it and was shuffling the leaves and banging it on the drive way. She was having loads of fun.

Getting angry with the stick... hahah
She got a leaf

Mom, stop taking my picture... geesh

Detroit Tigers

Yes, I know. The Detroit Tigers are no longer playing. But I wanted to post some pics of McKaila wearing her Tigers gear.
McKaila didn't have anything Tigers so this past Saturday, Grandma Kuipers (my mom) sent McKaila a Tigers tee-shirt and new jeans. Along with some very cute bows to put in her hair when she's wearing pig tails.

She was excited for game time
This is me, sporting my Grandpa Kuipers Tigers shirt. My Grandma gave this to me after he passed and thought it would be a great way to show my love to the Tigers!
GO TIGERS!!

National Aquarium

A while ago, Courtney and I decided that we wanted to do something special for McKaila for her birthday. We figured she would be getting many toys and what not for her first birthday, so we didn't really want to get her even more toys. So, we came up with the idea of taking her to the aquarium.

It takes about 45 minutes or so to get to Baltimore, so we had to get up earlier then usual to enjoy the aquarium. They were only open until 4 today, so we wanted to make the most out of it. McKaila really enjoyed herself, along with us. We really loved seeing her face light up when she spotted something she liked. She did a lot of pointing at the fish, saying "What's that?" She is just too cute for words sometimes.

It was a very fun day looking at all the fish, birds, sharks, dolphins, etc. but after all that fun McKaila was very tired. She fell asleep on our way back to the car. Stayed asleep while we changed her diaper and putting her in the car seat.
We know that she won't remember this day, but we will and we have over 100 pictures to show her when she's older.
