Air Show 2014

It's been a couple years now, since the last air show that we attended, so we got really excited when we found out that the Blue Angels were traveling around the U.S. doing air shows. Their final stop was going to be in Pensacola, FL which is a couple hour drive from us and also is the home of the Blue Angels.

Now, McKaila has always had a love for airplanes. Living in Maryland and Courtney being stationed at Andrews AFB, we saw countless amounts of planes. McKaila can spot out an airplane, even when it's a speck in the sky. She has now passed on her love for airplanes to her sister. Here in Biloxi, we don't see many airplanes, besides the Hurricane Hunters (C-130) flying around here. But, when McKenna spots an airplane, the girl goes crazy.

So, when we told the girls we were taking a road trip and going to see the Blue Angels and meeting up with the Papa's and Hartwell's, they got very excited. Days leading up to leaving, that's all that McKaila would talk about and McKenna would make airplane noises to add to it.

Back at Andrews, we would spend the whole day walking through airplanes and watching them fly, but there we could go relax inside Courtney's office and let McKaila run around outside the offices because no one else was allowed in that area. But going to Pensacola for this air show, we figured there were going to be tons of people (heck, it's a free event, and who doesn't like free?) so, we would have to keep an eye on the girls at all times and have them stay right where we were going to be sitting. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, keeping the girls by us, but I think if we would have made it an all day event like we did at Andrews, we would have had a lot of melt downs. So, it all worked out perfect with us only being there for a few hours and then spending time afterwards looking around at the planes and having the kids explore inside them.
