Happy Thanksgiving 2017

Once again this Thanksgiving, we had some special visitors, my parents.  The kids are always excited to see their grandparents, and since it has been awhile since the last time we seen them, they were even more excited about their trip here.

Turkey day isn't complete without some outdoor play while the turkey is frying outside. Luckily it wasn't as chilly as it has been, but the kids really don't care about the temperature, they just want to play and run around.

Along with playing outside, the kids also did a craft with grandma. The each made their own turkey's and were so proud of themselves with how they turned out.

TIME TO EAT!!

The food turned out fantastic. Everyone's bellies were sure full, to the point where we had to wait until later in the night to serve up dessert.

Like we did last year, after our bellies were full and clean up was done, we went to the Charlotte Motor Speedway to look at the Christmas lights. I think it's just so cool that they do something like this. And all the lights move with music. You tune into a certain radio station and listen while the lights move. It's pretty amazing and will really miss seeing this huge light show next year!

And we couldn't miss an opportunity to meet the one and only Santa Clause. And just like last year, Logan wasn't impressed.

The one thing that the girls remember most from last year, was getting the chance to feed all the goats and sheep. They couldn't wait to get back in the cold to feed them. If it was up to them we would have been there all night, they loved it so much.

New add on this year, was a snow machine. Really, it just a big bubbly mess on the ground, but as you can see McKenna loved it!

The Speedway did a new thing this year, where you could stop at the look out and see the whole speedway all lit up. If it wouldn't have been so cold I would have sat there and watched the lights all night. It was cool to get a different look at the lights like that.

It was a fun Thanksgiving, that's for sure. And like every other Thanksgiving, we stuffed ourselves to the limit, but enjoyed every bite of it.
Hope ya'll had a great Thanksgiving, also!

Dale's Last Race

It's the day I have been dreading since Dale announced his retirement, the last race of the season, the championship race.

Every race day, you will find me and now Logan dressed in our Dale shirts/sweatshirts and all of Logan's Dale cars lined up somewhere in the house. Actually, that's every day, not just race day, LOL.

Unfortunately, Dale didn't win at all this season, so he wasn't part of the championship, but they did make his last race special at Homestead and yup, I got teary eyed at times watching it. It sucks that he isn't going to be racing anymore, but I can't be too sad because next year he will be in the booth for NBC. So, we will still be seeing Dale every Sunday!!

It was a great race to watch, that was for sure!!
Martin Truex Jr. won his first ever championship!! It was so awesome to watch. I told Courtney at the beginning of race season that Martin was going to win it all, and he did!!!!

NASCAR Hall of Fame

One thing that I knew that I wanted to do before moving away from the Charlotte area, was to go back to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Outside of the hall of fame they put out a skating rink. The kids spotted the polar bear and Santa right away and needed for me to take pictures of them. Logan, being is normal self, was not interested in taking part of any picture taking.

We had an extra surprise going to the hall of fame because Lightning McQueen was there! I got to say it was pretty neat seeing all the Cars 3 stuff there. To see the cars and people that were apart of the movie was cool. I knew some of the drivers were voices of the cars in the movie, but there were some I had no clue about and now I know.

The child that is most obsessed with McQueen is the one that won't go by it

McKaila listening to information about Dale Sr.

I would have thought seeing McQueen would be the highlight to Logan's day, but nope, it was being part of the pit crew that sparked Logan's interested. He tried everything out, but being a tire changer was what he always went back to. I mean, he does look mighty cute doing it, if I do say myself.

We may be moving away from having racing at our finger tips, but we have seen some pretty awesome things that are always going to be fun memories to look back on.
