I love that we choose to do the birthday fun days instead of doing birthday parties. I will admit, I do miss the creative part of the birthday parties, but I much more like the memories we make as a family in choosing to do birthday fun days.
Logan desperately wanted to go to the zoo for his birthday fun day, but it's February and it's not warm enough to spend the day walking around the zoo. He was bummed about not being able to go the zoo, but then decided he would love to go to the aquarium again.
We got to the aquarium shortly after it opened, thankfully, because about half way through, we started noticing more and more kids around us. Our schools in Cheyenne were out for the day, but not the schools in Denver. The schools in Denver, decided to do field trips to the aquarium.
I'm just happy we got to enjoy most of the aquarium without all the kids around us, so the kids could walk up to everything and enjoy it without other kids pushing to get in to see.
We probably could have stayed longer at the aquarium, but I think all of us felt very overwhelmed with all the older kids running around, so we decided to call it quits after a short time.
Since we spent such a short time at the aquarium, Courtney had the idea of going to the Broncos stadium. Logan has really enjoyed football this past season, and always points out if there is Broncos or Cowboys on peoples cars, so we knew that this was going to be something he would enjoy.
Logan's eyes lit up when he finally realized where we were. He was so excited and ready to get out of the car and walk up to it.
We hung out in the front of the stadium a bit and watched the water flow for a while and then ventured inside to look inside the store. We did get some looks since Courtney was wearing his Cowboys sweatshirt, but he wore it proud while he walked around all the Broncos gear.
After a little bit of time at the stadium, we had another surprise for the kiddos.
DAVE AND BUSTERS!
The last time we were at Dave and Busters was when we went to DisneyWorld. So, yeah it's been a while.
The kids really had no idea where we were going and was naming off every single sign we passed until we finally passed Dave and Busters. When they saw the sign, the girls started getting really excited because they started to remember going in Florida. Logan had no clue what Dave and Busters was all about, but once we were inside, he was ready to go play.
But, before play, we needed to eat. We ate some delicious food and then off to the play floor we went.
The kids were very overwhelmed with all that was going on, but thankfully we were there at lunch, so it wasn't the business that made them overwhelmed, it was all the games to choose from.
The kids played a bunch of random games and earned lots of tickets. Even though the kids were very eager to go pick something out in the ticket store, but in the end they decided that they would save up their tickets for the next time we go there.
It was still pretty early when we were heading home, so we decided to make a pit stop. I came across the wildlife refuge on a website and thought it may be a fun quick stop before heading home.
I honestly didn't really know what to expect, l but was happily surprised by it. We saw countless amounts of deer, hawks, buffalo and too our surprise we saw about a handful of bald eagles.
It's hard to see in the picture below, but there are actually 3 bald eagles hanging out in the tree. When we were taking pictures of the bald eagle, we were thinking we were only taking pictures of 1 bald eagle. As we were driving off and looked back, we had noticed there were 2 more, so when I looked back at our pictures, we had pictures of all 3, when we didn't even realize we were.
It was a busy birthday fun day, but I think in the end, we all enjoyed every little minute of it. More memories to add to our memory book!
