Columbus, MS to Grapevine, TX

Our second stop...

Grapevine, TX to meet up with Courtney's dad and step mom

After our first day of travel, we were so happy to see lots of sunshine when we woke up in MS. But, also with the long day of travel that day, we knew that we had to make our pit stops a little longer so the kids weren't so antsy in the car.

Their favorite spot was just over the boarder in Louisiana. It was a huge welcome center and it was so nice out that we let the kids run wild for a little bit and let the dogs stretch their legs. We probably stayed there longer then we should have, but it truly helped for the rest of day of travel.

While in the car that day, we could over hear McKaila and McKenna talking about what their next surprise was going to be. They knew that they would be seeing their surprise that night, so they were trying to figure it out.

McKaila kept saying that she knew what the surprise was going to be. She knew we were going to meet up with Grandpa and Grandma Nancy because they live in Texas. She said that many times while on our way to our next location. So, when we got to our room and we had a knock on the door and told McKaila to get it, she had the biggest grin on her face. She was so proud of herself that she had figured out the surprise.

After some play with grandpa and grandma Nancy, we had to tell them we had to get some rest because they had another surprise in the morning.

When we were figuring out where to stop and we came upon Dallas, I knew that meant they probably had a Gaylord Motel. Ever since leaving the D.C. area I have been wanting to travel to go see ICE! and oh my was I excited when I found out there was a Gaylord in Grapevine, which is just outside of Dallas.

So, their next surprise was ICE!

They really didn't know what they were getting themselves in to, but were so excited. Especially when we got to the Gaylord that morning and they saw all of all the Christmas decorations. I got to say, the Gaylord out does theirselves. It looked amazing in there!

Like always, ICE! was amazing! I could probably have gone through again because there is so much to look at. McKaila and Logan weren't the biggest fans of the cold, but that was to be expected with those 2.

Afterwards, we browsed the ICE! shop and walked around the rest of the Gaylord. What an awesome place! Hopefully some day we can actually stay there one year and see ICE! again.

Logan and his trains. He could have stayed there all day watching them chug on by

It was a great stop in Grapevine and I so could have done another day there. There is just so much there that I just wanted to keep exploring, but onto the next days of travel.
