First Day of School

The time is here...

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!

Let me be honest, I wasn't ready for the first day of school. Well... there was a part of me that was more then ready, but I love having all 3 of the chicklins home with me, especially when they are all behaving, listening, and playing well together.

But, as they days of summer vacation were winding down, I found myself getting emotional about both our girls going to school.

They both have been in school at the same time, but for McKenna, last year she was only in pre-k for half the year and it was only a couple hours each day. So, since December, McKenna has been home with me all day, again.

Now, she'll be in school all day, just like her sister. It hit me really hard, that both my girls were going to be away from me all day, especially the night before school started.

But, seeing the smiles on their faces on the first day of school, I knew I was just being a crazy mommy. They are going to love school and I will miss them like crazy, but everything will be just fine.

McKenna was super excited to be going to school with McKaila. McKenna looks up to McKaila in every possible way and sometimes McKaila doesn't always reciprocate that, but the way that McKaila wanted to make sure that McKenna was ok at school made my heart so happy.

Courtney and I walked the girls to the playground to meet up with their teachers and on the way, McKenna had a slight melt down, but once she saw her teacher, she was ready to go. As soon as McKaila saw her friends from last year, she said "bye, love you" and off she went, so I wasn't able to get a picture of her heading into school. Even though I didn't get the picture, it warms my heart in every possible way that my shy little McKaila is busting into 2nd grade with a smile on her face and is getting over her shyness a little bit.

McKenna walked into school like a champ. She looked back and waved a few different times, while I tried to hold it together, but even with the slight melt down, she still walked into school with a big smile on her face, only as McKenna would.

Lastly, wholly molly...

Our girls are looking so much older heading into kindergarten and 2nd grade!! They are both going to rock it out this year and we are excited to see all they will accomplish this year!!
