Swan Lake and Helene

When we are in need of some fresh air, we head to Swan Lake. I love that Sumter has this hidden gem for us to enjoy. It’s so peaceful there and other than walking around the lake, we love to just sit there and enjoy watching the swans floating around.

During hurricane Helene, we lost power for 12 hours.
We were awaken at 5 am with the power flickering on and off, when a handful of minutes later, the power was out for good. At that same time, our phones were going off with tornado warnings, saying to seek shelter immediately. The kids came running downstairs, we got all 3 animals and hung out downstairs in our bedroom. We never took full shelter, I was just happy we were all in one room together.

Come to find out, there was a tornado that did touchdown right behind the house. Pretty scary thinking about it, but so happy that we are all safe including everyone else in this area.

With no power, that also means, no WiFi. It is a strange feeling not having any WiFi and with no WiFi, we get absolutely no service whats so ever in the house. To be able to try to call out to Courtney (who was at work) I had to go walking around the house to try to get a signal.

Not being able to play on their phones, the kids got all kinds of games out for us to play. McKaila and I also enjoyed reading most of the morning, until late afternoon, I couldn’t stand being in the house anymore. The kids and I got in the car and we went to the gas station to get some slurpees. It wasn’t much, but it was nice to just get out of the house, even if it was only for a little bit.

I love that the kids love just being together and even though they do bicker, I do believe the 3 of them consider themselves best friends. With having no power, they came together to figure out what to do next, but also like me, started feeling a bit stir crazy, hence these pictures.

The animals, with the power out, they did what they normally do.
NAP

But they are cute while do so!
