Tulip Time 2014

Tulip Time is one thing I truly miss about being in Holland. I never really thought I would miss something like Tulip Time when we moved away from Michigan, but I do. We have been away for 5 years now, and have been back for 3 Tulip Times, which really isn't bad. The first one was when I was pregnant with McKaila, then when McKaila was 6 months old, and this past one, McKaila was 3 1/2 years old and McKenna 1 year old. I am happy that our girls have been able to enjoy and see what has been a part of my whole life. They loved picking out their wooden shoes and dressing up in their Dutch costumes. Confession, I about cried seeing our babies in their Dutch costumes for the first time. They were just so darn cute.

Tulip Time includes 3 different parades. The Volksparade, The Kinderparade, and The Muziekparade. We were home for 2 parades, but only attended one of them. When I was younger, we would have half days of school and would attend every parade. People get up early to set a spot for the parade, which my mom did for all of us this year. We met my mom, sister, and family friends down at the parade to enjoy together.

The girls really enjoyed the parade even though it was a tad chilly, but over all, they loved when the bands when by and played their instruments, especially the Holland High marching band. (a little bias since I played flute for the Holland High marching band, Go Dutch)

To complete Tulip Time, we always have to take family pictures and eat junk food. We were able to get pictures taken despite the cold, but we passed on the junk food and all met at Russ' for dinner because it was just to cold to sit outside and enjoy the junk food.
