Charlotte Day 3: Race Day!

It’s here!!!

RACE DAY!!

Charlotte Motor Speedway always knows how to do things for the fans. Their fan zone was on point this year. They had so many things going on and it was so much fun. Unfortunately, it was beyond hot. So beyond hot and so very busy. We were all hot, constantly drinking water, but all the while, enjoying every moment of walking around the fan zone.

We spent a good while walking around the fan zone, but after a while we were starting to get hungry. We brought along some lunch/dinner stuff with us and figured it would be a good time to also get cooled down in the van. Well, it was so hot that even trying to get the van cooled down to cool us down, just wasn’t working. So, we ate, filled our waters and back towards the track to find our seats.

Our seats were a lot different than where we normally sit and I was kind of unsure about the area when Courtney mentioned that’s where we would be because those were the only tickets that were left. The area that we had our seats was called the sun deck. When trying to figure out where our seats were actually going to be, we were very unsure. Once we got there, I’m was so happy that they had some comfy chairs to sit in and they were all along the fence line. We were so close to the track, turn 4, it was so incredibly cool.

I didn’t take any pictures during the race because I just wanted to take everything in and enjoy our time together, watching the race. 

Unfortunately, the race didn’t go to the complete 400 laps. Some crazy storms rolled in and even after NASCAR said they were going to get the track dried and get the race started back up, it didn’t happen. We waited for 2 hours during the rain delay, thinking we would get back to racing, but oh well… it was fun anyways. In the end, they got 249 laps in and with the weather delay that meant that Christopher Bell won the race. 

It ended up being a very long day, especially after adding in the rain delay, but even though we didn’t arrive back to our hotel well after midnight, we all enjoyed every single minute of our day/night at the track!!
